Book Collection for Liberation Library (in person)

February 28, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

We are collecting new and gently used books and homemade bookmarks to donate to Liberation Library, which provides books to youth in prison to encourage imagination, self-determination and connection to outside worlds of their choosing. This will be a contactless collection. You will unload your donation from your car and place it in the trunk of the delivery car.

  • Liberation Library ONLY ACCEPT BOOKS FROM THEIR CATALOG. Books must be new or gently used.
  • Please consider buying books from local bookstores. Booked, a children’s bookstore in Evanston, carries many of the catalog titles.
  • We are also collecting homemade bookmarks, which Liberation Library includes with every book they send. Whether you make one at our bookmark-making event on 2/24 or make one on your own, you may drop them off at this collection. Bookmarks should be made on card stock (a cut index card or greeting card will do). Bookmarks can be made using pen, pencils, crayons, markers, etc. Bookmarks may not include stickers, tape, or glue.
  • Alternatively, we will have materials for you to make a bookmark in your car during this event!
  • You may arrive at any point during the hour of this event.
  • No need to sign up!
